TV Viewing Habits of a 14 Year Old Girl

I’m going to take you through my week of TV… This could be embarrassing. This will be a list of the shows I like to watch during the week.
Sunday – Amazing Race and Undercover Boss
Nothing too surprising here, I have always watched Amazing Race and would love to someday be on it. I’m not sure who I’d like to be on it with I’ve had a few different ideas on but you have to find that something that makes you stand out. I have talked about partnering with my best friend Ashley because that could be an interesting dynamic, Cute little blonde with strong big guy or there is the my other best friend my little brother, Brian, but I don’t know what our angle would be…maybe it could be wow they are extremely good looking guys their parents must be very good looking. I could do it with my older brother, Jeff I guess our angle could be wow their parents had to try again to get a better looking child! (zinger) I have even thought about racing with my Mom great angle here, adult son has amazing life in San Diego decides to give up to live with Mom in Texas… Undercover Boss is pretty good but they seem to always pick people that they know are good workers once I want to see someone that hates their job and is really crappy at it.
Monday- Big night- HIMYM, ROE, BBT and 24
For those of you that don’t know the acronyms that is How I Met Your Mother, Rules of Engagement and Big Bang Theory. I like all of these show a lot but I’m ready to meet the mother already! I mean Ted has been telling stories to his kids about how they met for like 4 years now, longest story ever! Best part about that show is Barney Stinson (NPH) the guy is legend…..wait for it….wait for it…and I hope you aren’t lactose intolerant….dary. ROE is hilarious I like Putty in it I kind of see myself acting like him when I get married, unless that isn’t a good thing ladies! And of course Sheldon makes Big Bang Theory, that guy needs an award ASAP
Tuesday – Biggest Loser, Glee, lost and Parenthood
Great night of TV Biggest Loser is awesome and always inspiring. I wish I could get in a gym 8 hours a day and not work. Glee has finally returned again and has caused quite a conundrum for my DVR because all 3 shows air at the same time and since I don’t have that AT&T thing where I can record 4 shows at once I must settle for watching glee a day or so later on hulu. I could talk about lost but really there is no point you either watch it and THINK you know what is going on or you don’t watch it. Perhaps I’ll give my thoughts after the series finale.
Wednesday – RW/RR Challenge
It’s a slow night…I really like these challenges though for a few reasons. First I love reality TV type drama because it is so funny to me. Second Are this kids really that stupid? And I really actually like to watch the competitions they come up with some crazy things to do. I think one of the craziest I’ve seen is moving some sort of bug from point A to point B by using only your mouth. Is the money really worth it? I feel like there is another show on this night but I can’t remember it now…
Thursday
– The Office, Survivor and Flash Forward
I just started watching Flash Forward, I missed season 1 but I watched the 2-hour recap and I really like it. I truly have no idea where the show is headed and that is at the same time exciting and annoying. The Office is just phenomenal another one of those you either love it and watch it, quote it, re-enact it. I would definetly get a Dundie! And back to my love of Reality TV Survivor is a Thursday night staple! I think I started watching season 2 and haven’t missed a season since. The show changed TV as we know it and created its own genre, reality TV. Heck they even have a category now at the Emmy’s!
Friday – Nothing…
Saturday – Nothing

Wow that wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be! The only omission is my favorite show that is now on every single night and that is Baseball Tonight. I watch that show pretty much every night and I think Bobby Valentine has been a wonderful addition. I guess sometimes I try and catch SNL but only if it’s someone I like. I have a feeling that show sill be gone fairly soon. Also I watch every UFC pay per view event! Also try and watch at least 1 Braves game a week but that is a lot harder now that they aren’t on TBS

Bye for now…let me know if you agree or disagree

Miss you tons

Walks, Barks and Wags

What another blog within a week of the last one!!! So I took Hurley for a pretty long walk today, to do that I had to take a route that I’ve never taken before. I quickly learned that I wouldn’t be taking that route again! First off right out the door we saw 3 other dogs being walked so he got riled up from the start and made the rest of the walk that much more difficult, but we pressed on. We actually saw another boxer but Hurley wasn’t as excited to see him as I was, he just wanted to bark and lunge. So I drove this route to make sure it was possible to get through every street and be able to circle back, looked to be a good route, lots of trees and shade and not real busy. This all proved to be true what I didn’t know from my drive was that there was a dog living at almost every house on the street! So with Hurley already excited we hit the street and the first house had a dog that barked at us and the domino effect continued down the WHOLE street. But once we got down that street he calmed down or just exhausted himself and the rest of the walk was good.

While on the walk I made some decisions about some real important things, like what houses it would be ok for Hurley to poop at and which ones I would pick up the poop! It all started with a house that had icicle Christmas lights up. I thought that if they don’t care enough to take down the lights then surely they don’t care about a little dog poop on their lawn. Then I started looking at every house that I passed and gave them the dog poop test. I saw a house with 3 rolls of carpet in the front yard, poop house. There was a nice house with a decent lawn and clean front area, not poop house. So I tried to put a list in my head together of criteria for poopable lawns. I came up with a few: Christmas lights up, more than 2 newspapers on the lawn, any house that super fan lives at (I passed a house with a giant longhorn logo on the garage door),a trash can at the street when no one else has one out, if I see dog poop and any house that has purple somehow involved in their paint scheme and I mean purple purple, not lilac or some light shade. Any additions are greatly appreciated!

Next I want to tell you about The Voice of The Bobcats 2.0. Never mind I don’t have anything to say about him…

This week Hurley and I have a lot of “homework” to do. He has really learned a lot and passed his first test with flying colors last Thursday. We are working on hand targeting and recalls (come). This week in class we will be working on loose leash walking after today I learned that you just have to walk him a mile then he will be tired and walk right next to you!

Our Baseball team swept a conference 3 game series this weekend and face the #6 Texas Longhorns tomorrow and then the other good team in the conference this weekend. I was hoping to travel with them to play but instead I have to stay in town to film cheerleader tryouts…

Boy did the SF Giants get real excited about starting the season off undefeated that just means they will have a longer streak of losses later in the year. Giants suck

One of my favorite things I’ve heard about major league baseball “You will win 50 games and you will lose 50 games its what you do with the other 62 that counts” I think that’s a cool quote. I’m glad my favorite show Baseball Tonight is back on air!

I put a new showerhead in my shower what a great thing to do. If you don’t enjoy your showerhead I suggest you go get a new one! Waking up is enough to make you angry why make it worse with a crappy showerhead? Get it done

I love watching/reading people having breakdowns on Facebook. Need attention much?

Have you ever had a joke or saying that you and a friend came up with and then someone else constantly uses it? I get angry. Is that wrong?

If everyone makes fun of mullets why do people still rock them? I think John Kruk even got rid of his

The other day I was at the baseball field while some players were getting some extra hitting work in, one of the coaches asked me to come hit a few! I was in khakis a polo and house shoes (they are fancy ones so I wear them to work). I missed the first 3 pitches then fouled 2 off and then finally had 3 base hits. Still got it!

My battery is quickly dying on my laptop and I left the charger at work so I will close this while I still can

Miss you lots

As always comments are swell

Getting into the new swing of things

Well it’s been a while… I know last time I said I would do this more often, this time I plan on keeping it up more in fact I’m going to set a calendar reminder to make sure I do it!

Life is a lot different for me now, most of you know why but there is so much more. Work is a lot less hectic this time of year. Just have 5 more Softball games and a bunch more Baseball games, but since I love watching baseball so that’s ok with me. This year is a little bit different than last year, this year I have 7 awesome student workers that make my life much easier! They have been working with me since football season so my trust in them and their ability to do what needs to be done grows with every event. This means that I don’t have to attend every game, well at least not stay for the whole thing. Now I can get them started and then head home or just sit in the stand and watch, and of course critique everything in my head! But 90% of the time they do a great job. I even have a few come to my office and learn how to produce animations. Always a learning environment at Texas State!

When I’m not at work I have found a new joy in walking my baby boy Hurley! I have been doing a lot of walking recently. I try and get him an hour of walking a day. He does have some behavior issues but we are working on those. We started a group class with Lee Mannix www.lmccb.com he is really progressing well. He is very nervous and lacks confidence and I don’t know why, so he likes to be mean to people and other dogs because he knows it will keep them away. But like I said we are working on it and I can really see a change in him and that makes me happy because I really want to take him to a dog park where he can run and play with other dogs!

After our walks we hit up the DVR or www.channelsurfing.com. I usually tell people I have the TV viewing habits of a 14 year old girl, but I also pride myself on watching and finding quality TV programs too. For instance, I was on the Grey’s Anatomy train from the start but have missed the last 3 seasons and from what I can gather that was a good move! Also I watched every episode of ER also was there from the start of Arrested Development, The Office and many more. My newest quality find is Parenthood, don’t get me wrong I still love my reality TV like Amazing Race, The Biggest Loser and Survivor but I am a huge fan of great writing and good drama. My all time favorite show is “Sports Night” probably the best written show of all time followed closely by “Studio 60 on Sunset Strip” surprisingly written by the same guy! Back to Parenthood, it has such a great cast Peter Krause (in Sports Night and Six Feet Under) and as I found out this year it is pronounced krau-say, had me fooled. Also has the amazingly beautiful Monica Potter, you might know her best as Patch Adams girlfriend. Lauren Graham of Gilmore Girls fame also Bad Santa! Then there is the voluptuous Erika Christensen, drug czar’s daughter in Traffic and also in Swimfan. Craig T. Nelson/Coach and the biggest surprise to me Dax Shepard probably most well known as the guy on the original Punk’d. This guy is good in this show maybe the rest of the stellar cast has brought it out of him. The show is about four siblings all in different places in their lives but now all in the same town. It explores their relationships and is just plain good. I wouldn’t be surprised if Alan Sorkin is somehow involved in the writing, he is the guy that wrote Sports Night, Studio 60… and West Wing which I never watched. If you get a chance check it out, you won’t be disappointed.

My days at work have changed a bit too. Now that the home events are getting slow I’m producing a lot more TV Spots (commercials). These are fun because I get to take chances and try new things. Right now I’m trying to come up with a concept for a football season ticket spot. My research for this consists of watching various commercials on YouTube and trying to figure out how they do things and how I can put my own spin on them. Then I play around with the various programs I use and come up with a 30 sec spot. Lately I have been playing with this 3D type looking thing with still photos it’s a cool look but it is kind of hard to get perfect without staging photos which can be hard to do with the schedules of Student-Athletes and their sometimes difficult coaches… that is a different blog! So keep your eyes peeled for that spot to appear here when I get it all done.

Lately I have been getting home sick for my real home in Southern California! I feel like I’m never going to get back there. It scares me with the high price of living and the thought of finding a job there that will allow me to live how I want seems impossible. I get the feeling that there are really only 2 safe places to live there now and both are super expensive, Orange County or North San Diego County… it is sad. Really I just want a job on a Coast…just not the South Coast! Also a place that is called a beach and not the “coast”! I guess it will happen someday just need to keep that résumé tight and up to date!

One more thing check this out are you that tough?

I miss you!

Well ciao for now!

I'm Back! for now...

Wow It has been so long. I cant believe my last post was on March 1st. So much has happened since then. I got a full time job, still in school, got my girlfriend to go to school and so much more.

So the job. My official title is Athletic Video Production Assistant. Basically I produce, shoot, edit and post all video content on our website www.txstatebobcats.com along with that I create and produce all video content on the jumbotrons for 6 different sports also I supervise the operation of the video boards at the 6 sports! So I go to a lot of sporting events, which isn't all bad. The funny part about my job, and job title is that I am the Assistant but there is no one that I assist. I do it all. The truth is I really like my job. I love working in an Athletic Department it is such a fun atmosphere. Plus there are lots of perks! I get to travel sometimes with the sports to away games to get footage for highlights, I really like traveling with the teams. This year I went to every away game with the football team, I got to go to Ft Worth to watch us play then #15 TCU and now #4, Southern Utah, which included some golf in Mesquite, NV also went to Louisiana twice and up to Little Rock, Arkansas. The best part of traveling is the food. Especially with the football team, they feed them very well there is always a trip to Golden Corral or 2.

Sadly, for my girlfriend, my job dominates most of my time.

Our football team this year was pretty good. for most of the year were the only team to post 21 points on TCU! The offense was looking good most of the year and if not for 5 or 6 plays we could be in the playoffs right now. We ended up 3rd in our conference but we beat the 1st place team that just won its 1st round playoff game! I'm hoping they do well as it is a good reflection on our Conference.

Our Volleyball Team is still playing as a result of a Conference Tournament win. They are scheduled to play Texas on Thursday in the 1st round of the NCAA Tournament. Its really an unfortunate draw because Texas is the #2 team in the country. I feel bad for our girls, but I guess you never know. I think our location has a lot to do with that match up.

Our Women's Soccer team finished the year undefeated in conference only to fall in the final game of the Conference Tournament to just miss a trip to the NCAA Tournament.

As for the rest of my life there is my Girlfriend Chelsea, and my dog Hurley. Hurley is a Boxer and a former cuddler. He sleeps in my bed with me every night, or as he thinks I sleep with him every night. He is a good dog but has some social issues that I hope to tackle now that my schedule will lighten up a little. We have taken him to a trainer that is really good and showed a lot of improvement but can still use a lot of work. He has a problem with other dogs and sometimes people.. This makes me sad because I really want to take him out and about! So I will work hard to make that happen!

Ok now that I've caught up....

I have these 4 sites on my bookmarks that have special deals everyday. I bookmarked them in the hopes of purchasing things online now that I have a steady income and some cash in the bank. It has been a good 7 months and there hasn't been anything worth buying, perhaps that is why they are on these deal sites. It is a little ironic that I want to buy these things since I give my mom such a hard time for her constant purchases from QVC! And now she is hooked on this new site www.alice.com at first i was skeptical but after looking at it a little bit I recommend that you check it out! Basically you go on there and pick out the household items you buy organized by room (deodorant, laundry detergent, cleaners and toilet paper) any way you buy this stuff and the delivery is free and its priced right along with WalMart or Target. The cool part is it reminds you when to buy more based on estimated usage! So when you are low on TP Alice will tell you to get more! Its a great idea, I think delivery is like 3 to 5 days but it seems like a good idea. I will be making my first purchases on Tuesday (pay day).

Well until next time and hopefully more often.

Oh yeah today I realized the Winter Olympics are coming soon. That's exciting!

Hurley is snoring....

Social Networking...

So I use Facebook a lot and I don 't have some astronomical number of friends, but i have a lot that I don't communicate with but they are or were friends. For example I have a lot of old high school friends on Facebook but I don't send them messages and stuff, maybe I should?!?. Anyway I was thinking about ti today how funny it is to add people as your friends its kind of weird if you see that person consistently and don't talk about it. Like when I first started on Face book I thought it was a little awkward too request people as friends without talking to them in person about it first "hey I see you are on Facebook, can we be friends?"...I don't know. But then also are you allowed to continue Wall to Wall conversations in person away from Facebook? Its all very hard to figure out. I will say that now I have no qualm with requesting friendship via the World Wide Web now, but I am still unsure about the realms in which conversations can transverse the Wall to actually speaking!!!

Have a good day

School and Stuff

School is in full swing and this is by far my hardest semester. I have been at this school for a few semesters now and this is the first one that I have homework almost every night. And along with all of my extra activities its not been the easiest time to keep up. thus I haven't blogged in a while.

Since my last post a lot has happened in the Athletics Department. We opened our new Softball stadium last week. It was a big time challenge. I stopped by the office around noon to help load some graphics for the game and was quickly roped into so much more. I didn't leave that night until after the game. But I loved every minute of it. It really was cool to be a part of the big event. I helped setup the furniture in the suites loaded the press box with chairs, tested our camera, setup some fan relations stuff and even saw the first fan walk in. Once the game started I was on a wireless shoulder camera and had access to the entire facility. It was fun to go on and off the field and in and out of the dugouts. Although we didn't put many live shots up it was fun being a part of it all. The best part was beating #19 Texas A&M in the bottom of the 7th 3-2 photos.

All of that excitement parlayed into a great Bobcat Bonanza, the annual athletic fundraiser, the following Friday. The night was really cool, I've never been to an event like that. The night started off with a closest to the pin competition for the VIP guests then a nice catered dinner by Texas Roadhouse also an open bar, then came the live auction which was a great time. we auctioned off a trip to Reno for 2, a trip to Mesquite with the Football team, and a bunch of NBA court side tickets. There was also a silent auction with lots of cool items highlighted by a Nolan Ryan signed baseball. I think we ended up making close to $40,000 that night.

Next week we are opening our brand new Baseball stadium against #4 Texas. I'm super excited about it because My brother, his wife, my mom, my mom's friend and my girlfriend will get to go to the sold out game as well. I'm not sure if I will be on a camera or just in the booth doing computer stuff but either way I'm happy to be there and hopefully we get a win!

My reality TV addiction has been fueled the past few weeks. Survivor is one of my favorites it started last week and I was sad to see that 2 of the better looking girls were voted off in the first 2 weeks. I also got addicted to this horrible, awful show called True Beauty. I don't know if any of you saw it but they took 10 pretty people and put them through a few challenges to find their inner beauty. I was please to see that the nicest, prettiest girl from Texas was the winner.

I guess that's all for now. Leave some comments let me know you are reading.
I miss all of you that I haven't seen in a while and hope that you are all doing well.

Random Entries

I'm going to start this off with a disclaimer that this may be a very random entry. I haven't wrote in a week or so and a few different things have caught my attention that may (or may not) be worthy of writing about.

As seen in my previous post my trip to Fogo De Chao was great but what I neglected to mention the bathroom it featured something I've been saying, mostly to myself, that needs to be a new trend. That trend is the lower urinal! You know there is always a few urinals at one height then the one at a lower height that some may claim are reserved for kids! Anyway, this may get a little graphic, but I always use the little one purely for the lack of splash on the hands! You might laugh but guys you've experienced this before, peeing at a urinal and maybe a little splash on your hands or near your pockets, I really hope I'm not alone in this experience. With the lower positioned urinal the splash, at best, hits your pants around the knees, short wearers have a whole new problem. But I prefer the splash on my knees rather than back on my goods or on my hands. Sure you could wash your hands to take care of it but why not prevent it all together! So it was nice to see that a high class place like Fogo has embraced my silent idea of only having low ones.

As I was riding the bus around campus the other day I saw something that totally perplexed me... A girl was walking along with her left arm full of books and in her right hand a Large cup of coffee as well as a lit cigarette! So it made me wonder what her plan of attack was to take advantage of that lit cigarette. Any ideas?

Also something that bothers me is when people try to get on the bus before people get off. WHY?

This week of school was good my classes are challenging and I've quickly lost the excitement I had for this semester. One highlight though is the new position I have picked up I am an Intern in the Athletics office working with the marketing dept. I work with some really cool, creative and smart people that work hard to get things done for the school. It's a real exciting time for Athletics at our school with all of the new facilities being built. We open our new Softball stadium on Feb 18th with a home game against Texas A&M, I'll be running a wireless camera at the game, it will be the first game in history we will have a camera working to supply the scoreboard with live images. I'm excited.

Also today I did an interview with one of our athletes for a piece to be posted on our website, I will post a link, I also have one lined up for Monday and look forward to a few more by the end of the month.

I'm working on a logo for something at school. I have all of these ideas in my head but I don't have the skill to make it come to life via Photoshop or Illustrator.

Not sure how I feel about the 33yr old unemployed single mother that just had 8 kids to bring her grand total to 13....

My dog snores. It makes me sympathize with my girlfriend for having to deal with my "loud" breathing.

In my Exercise Physiology lab I learned that I am a powerful being. We tested our power and I shocked myself with my abilities. My vertical was 8'11"! That means I can pretty much touch net! Don't come in my house!! but truthfully my vert was 1'7" I was proud.

One of my favorite shows, Friday Night Lights, aired an episode on Friday that featured my school stadium as Texas A&M. good stuff.

Did anyone see that Lakers win in OT over the Celtics without Bynum? I missed it!

Its great to be in Texas in February where people are laying out tanning because its been like 78 all week

be back soon!
