TV Viewing Habits of a 14 Year Old Girl

I’m going to take you through my week of TV… This could be embarrassing. This will be a list of the shows I like to watch during the week.
Sunday – Amazing Race and Undercover Boss
Nothing too surprising here, I have always watched Amazing Race and would love to someday be on it. I’m not sure who I’d like to be on it with I’ve had a few different ideas on but you have to find that something that makes you stand out. I have talked about partnering with my best friend Ashley because that could be an interesting dynamic, Cute little blonde with strong big guy or there is the my other best friend my little brother, Brian, but I don’t know what our angle would be…maybe it could be wow they are extremely good looking guys their parents must be very good looking. I could do it with my older brother, Jeff I guess our angle could be wow their parents had to try again to get a better looking child! (zinger) I have even thought about racing with my Mom great angle here, adult son has amazing life in San Diego decides to give up to live with Mom in Texas… Undercover Boss is pretty good but they seem to always pick people that they know are good workers once I want to see someone that hates their job and is really crappy at it.
Monday- Big night- HIMYM, ROE, BBT and 24
For those of you that don’t know the acronyms that is How I Met Your Mother, Rules of Engagement and Big Bang Theory. I like all of these show a lot but I’m ready to meet the mother already! I mean Ted has been telling stories to his kids about how they met for like 4 years now, longest story ever! Best part about that show is Barney Stinson (NPH) the guy is legend…..wait for it….wait for it…and I hope you aren’t lactose intolerant….dary. ROE is hilarious I like Putty in it I kind of see myself acting like him when I get married, unless that isn’t a good thing ladies! And of course Sheldon makes Big Bang Theory, that guy needs an award ASAP
Tuesday – Biggest Loser, Glee, lost and Parenthood
Great night of TV Biggest Loser is awesome and always inspiring. I wish I could get in a gym 8 hours a day and not work. Glee has finally returned again and has caused quite a conundrum for my DVR because all 3 shows air at the same time and since I don’t have that AT&T thing where I can record 4 shows at once I must settle for watching glee a day or so later on hulu. I could talk about lost but really there is no point you either watch it and THINK you know what is going on or you don’t watch it. Perhaps I’ll give my thoughts after the series finale.
Wednesday – RW/RR Challenge
It’s a slow night…I really like these challenges though for a few reasons. First I love reality TV type drama because it is so funny to me. Second Are this kids really that stupid? And I really actually like to watch the competitions they come up with some crazy things to do. I think one of the craziest I’ve seen is moving some sort of bug from point A to point B by using only your mouth. Is the money really worth it? I feel like there is another show on this night but I can’t remember it now…
Thursday
– The Office, Survivor and Flash Forward
I just started watching Flash Forward, I missed season 1 but I watched the 2-hour recap and I really like it. I truly have no idea where the show is headed and that is at the same time exciting and annoying. The Office is just phenomenal another one of those you either love it and watch it, quote it, re-enact it. I would definetly get a Dundie! And back to my love of Reality TV Survivor is a Thursday night staple! I think I started watching season 2 and haven’t missed a season since. The show changed TV as we know it and created its own genre, reality TV. Heck they even have a category now at the Emmy’s!
Friday – Nothing…
Saturday – Nothing

Wow that wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be! The only omission is my favorite show that is now on every single night and that is Baseball Tonight. I watch that show pretty much every night and I think Bobby Valentine has been a wonderful addition. I guess sometimes I try and catch SNL but only if it’s someone I like. I have a feeling that show sill be gone fairly soon. Also I watch every UFC pay per view event! Also try and watch at least 1 Braves game a week but that is a lot harder now that they aren’t on TBS

Bye for now…let me know if you agree or disagree

Miss you tons

Walks, Barks and Wags

What another blog within a week of the last one!!! So I took Hurley for a pretty long walk today, to do that I had to take a route that I’ve never taken before. I quickly learned that I wouldn’t be taking that route again! First off right out the door we saw 3 other dogs being walked so he got riled up from the start and made the rest of the walk that much more difficult, but we pressed on. We actually saw another boxer but Hurley wasn’t as excited to see him as I was, he just wanted to bark and lunge. So I drove this route to make sure it was possible to get through every street and be able to circle back, looked to be a good route, lots of trees and shade and not real busy. This all proved to be true what I didn’t know from my drive was that there was a dog living at almost every house on the street! So with Hurley already excited we hit the street and the first house had a dog that barked at us and the domino effect continued down the WHOLE street. But once we got down that street he calmed down or just exhausted himself and the rest of the walk was good.

While on the walk I made some decisions about some real important things, like what houses it would be ok for Hurley to poop at and which ones I would pick up the poop! It all started with a house that had icicle Christmas lights up. I thought that if they don’t care enough to take down the lights then surely they don’t care about a little dog poop on their lawn. Then I started looking at every house that I passed and gave them the dog poop test. I saw a house with 3 rolls of carpet in the front yard, poop house. There was a nice house with a decent lawn and clean front area, not poop house. So I tried to put a list in my head together of criteria for poopable lawns. I came up with a few: Christmas lights up, more than 2 newspapers on the lawn, any house that super fan lives at (I passed a house with a giant longhorn logo on the garage door),a trash can at the street when no one else has one out, if I see dog poop and any house that has purple somehow involved in their paint scheme and I mean purple purple, not lilac or some light shade. Any additions are greatly appreciated!

Next I want to tell you about The Voice of The Bobcats 2.0. Never mind I don’t have anything to say about him…

This week Hurley and I have a lot of “homework” to do. He has really learned a lot and passed his first test with flying colors last Thursday. We are working on hand targeting and recalls (come). This week in class we will be working on loose leash walking after today I learned that you just have to walk him a mile then he will be tired and walk right next to you!

Our Baseball team swept a conference 3 game series this weekend and face the #6 Texas Longhorns tomorrow and then the other good team in the conference this weekend. I was hoping to travel with them to play but instead I have to stay in town to film cheerleader tryouts…

Boy did the SF Giants get real excited about starting the season off undefeated that just means they will have a longer streak of losses later in the year. Giants suck

One of my favorite things I’ve heard about major league baseball “You will win 50 games and you will lose 50 games its what you do with the other 62 that counts” I think that’s a cool quote. I’m glad my favorite show Baseball Tonight is back on air!

I put a new showerhead in my shower what a great thing to do. If you don’t enjoy your showerhead I suggest you go get a new one! Waking up is enough to make you angry why make it worse with a crappy showerhead? Get it done

I love watching/reading people having breakdowns on Facebook. Need attention much?

Have you ever had a joke or saying that you and a friend came up with and then someone else constantly uses it? I get angry. Is that wrong?

If everyone makes fun of mullets why do people still rock them? I think John Kruk even got rid of his

The other day I was at the baseball field while some players were getting some extra hitting work in, one of the coaches asked me to come hit a few! I was in khakis a polo and house shoes (they are fancy ones so I wear them to work). I missed the first 3 pitches then fouled 2 off and then finally had 3 base hits. Still got it!

My battery is quickly dying on my laptop and I left the charger at work so I will close this while I still can

Miss you lots

As always comments are swell

Getting into the new swing of things

Well it’s been a while… I know last time I said I would do this more often, this time I plan on keeping it up more in fact I’m going to set a calendar reminder to make sure I do it!

Life is a lot different for me now, most of you know why but there is so much more. Work is a lot less hectic this time of year. Just have 5 more Softball games and a bunch more Baseball games, but since I love watching baseball so that’s ok with me. This year is a little bit different than last year, this year I have 7 awesome student workers that make my life much easier! They have been working with me since football season so my trust in them and their ability to do what needs to be done grows with every event. This means that I don’t have to attend every game, well at least not stay for the whole thing. Now I can get them started and then head home or just sit in the stand and watch, and of course critique everything in my head! But 90% of the time they do a great job. I even have a few come to my office and learn how to produce animations. Always a learning environment at Texas State!

When I’m not at work I have found a new joy in walking my baby boy Hurley! I have been doing a lot of walking recently. I try and get him an hour of walking a day. He does have some behavior issues but we are working on those. We started a group class with Lee Mannix www.lmccb.com he is really progressing well. He is very nervous and lacks confidence and I don’t know why, so he likes to be mean to people and other dogs because he knows it will keep them away. But like I said we are working on it and I can really see a change in him and that makes me happy because I really want to take him to a dog park where he can run and play with other dogs!

After our walks we hit up the DVR or www.channelsurfing.com. I usually tell people I have the TV viewing habits of a 14 year old girl, but I also pride myself on watching and finding quality TV programs too. For instance, I was on the Grey’s Anatomy train from the start but have missed the last 3 seasons and from what I can gather that was a good move! Also I watched every episode of ER also was there from the start of Arrested Development, The Office and many more. My newest quality find is Parenthood, don’t get me wrong I still love my reality TV like Amazing Race, The Biggest Loser and Survivor but I am a huge fan of great writing and good drama. My all time favorite show is “Sports Night” probably the best written show of all time followed closely by “Studio 60 on Sunset Strip” surprisingly written by the same guy! Back to Parenthood, it has such a great cast Peter Krause (in Sports Night and Six Feet Under) and as I found out this year it is pronounced krau-say, had me fooled. Also has the amazingly beautiful Monica Potter, you might know her best as Patch Adams girlfriend. Lauren Graham of Gilmore Girls fame also Bad Santa! Then there is the voluptuous Erika Christensen, drug czar’s daughter in Traffic and also in Swimfan. Craig T. Nelson/Coach and the biggest surprise to me Dax Shepard probably most well known as the guy on the original Punk’d. This guy is good in this show maybe the rest of the stellar cast has brought it out of him. The show is about four siblings all in different places in their lives but now all in the same town. It explores their relationships and is just plain good. I wouldn’t be surprised if Alan Sorkin is somehow involved in the writing, he is the guy that wrote Sports Night, Studio 60… and West Wing which I never watched. If you get a chance check it out, you won’t be disappointed.

My days at work have changed a bit too. Now that the home events are getting slow I’m producing a lot more TV Spots (commercials). These are fun because I get to take chances and try new things. Right now I’m trying to come up with a concept for a football season ticket spot. My research for this consists of watching various commercials on YouTube and trying to figure out how they do things and how I can put my own spin on them. Then I play around with the various programs I use and come up with a 30 sec spot. Lately I have been playing with this 3D type looking thing with still photos it’s a cool look but it is kind of hard to get perfect without staging photos which can be hard to do with the schedules of Student-Athletes and their sometimes difficult coaches… that is a different blog! So keep your eyes peeled for that spot to appear here when I get it all done.

Lately I have been getting home sick for my real home in Southern California! I feel like I’m never going to get back there. It scares me with the high price of living and the thought of finding a job there that will allow me to live how I want seems impossible. I get the feeling that there are really only 2 safe places to live there now and both are super expensive, Orange County or North San Diego County… it is sad. Really I just want a job on a Coast…just not the South Coast! Also a place that is called a beach and not the “coast”! I guess it will happen someday just need to keep that résumé tight and up to date!

One more thing check this out are you that tough?

I miss you!

Well ciao for now!
